1. Who we are
VersePanel is an independent developer of the VersePanel Bible study app. For this website, the data controller is VersePanel (independent developer). Contact: bertvong@gmail.com. We are not established in the EU/EEA. If an EU representative is appointed under Article 27 GDPR, their name and address will be published here; until then, all requests can be sent to the email above.
2. Scope: website vs. app
This notice applies to the landing pages, guides, comparisons, support and announcement pages, and custom-development enquiries on versepanel.com. It does not apply to the iOS app, to Apple's App Store, or to any third-party site you reach through a link. Downloads and in-app purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
3. What we process
- Server access logs — IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, timestamp and response status, used for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. Legal basis: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Normally kept no longer than 30 days.
- Language preference — a value stored locally in your browser (not a cookie) so the site opens in your language. Legal basis: storage strictly necessary to provide the service you requested (ePrivacy Art. 5(3) exemption). Kept until you clear browser data.
- Emails you send us — your email address, name if you provide it, message content and attachments, used to answer support and custom-development enquiries. Legal basis: legitimate interests and steps prior to a contract (Art. 6(1)(b), (f)). Kept up to 24 months after the conversation ends.
- App Store clicks — we receive no Apple ID, payment or download data; Apple processes that data on its own site.
We do not collect accounts, passwords, payment details, precise location, contacts or biometric data. We do not use analytics, advertising or social pixels, session recording or fingerprinting, we do not build profiles, and we never sell personal data.
4. Cookies
This website sets no cookies at all — neither first-party nor third-party. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no third-party font or CDN. Because the only information stored on your device is the strictly necessary language preference, no cookie consent banner is required under EU rules.
You can block or delete local storage in your browser settings; the site will still work and fall back to English. If we ever add non-essential cookies or third-party embeds, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
5. Sharing and international transfers
- Hosting provider — stores the website files and server logs on our behalf.
- Email provider — processes the messages you send to our contact address.
- Apple — only when you choose to open the App Store link.
We never sell personal data. Some providers may process data outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States; where required, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. We share only the minimum data necessary.
6. Retention
Access logs are normally deleted within 30 days. Support and enquiry emails are kept for up to 24 months after the matter is closed. Your language preference stays until you clear it. We do not keep data longer than stated unless the law requires it.
7. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA or another jurisdiction with similar rules, you may access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request erasure, restrict or object to processing, receive your data in a portable format, and withdraw any consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any right, email bertvong@gmail.com. We reply within one month, extendable by two months for complex requests, and may ask for information needed to verify your identity. Requests are free of charge.
8. Children, security and changes
The website is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. The site is served over HTTPS, and access to server records is limited to the developer. If we make material changes to this notice we will update the dates above and announce it on the announcements page; we will not treat continued use as consent to new processing that requires consent.
